Thrombolytic Effect of Esterase on the Creebral Thrombosis

This study was designed to test safety and efficacy of thrombolytic treatment of arginine esterase (Alginase) in acute cerebral thrombosis. Alginase 0.5~0.75 unit in normal saline was infused to 32 patients in with computed tomography proven
cerebral
thrombosis and examined the neurological outcomes in relation to brain single photon emisson computed tomography (SPECT). After 6 weeks of treatment the neurologic symptoms amelorated in 81.1% of the patients with improvement of cerebral
circulation in
SPECT finding. During treatment blood cell profiles and blood chemistry findings were not significantly changed and severe side reaction was not noted. From these result arginine esterase may be safe and useful drug for the treatment of the acute
